David Bernacki is a retired New York State Trooper and U.S. Army Major. David currently flies coastal and offshore missions with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He has accrued 400+ hours of volunteer flying with USCG Auxiliary, including search missions for a diver believed to have been swept out to sea and for the missing fishing vessel F/V Carol Ann. He owns and flies a Maule M-5 and is a 1000+hour private pilot.
David moved to Clyo, Georgia with his wife and 3 children in 2016 where he is an active member of the Clyo Community Church, Effingham County Methodist Campground, American Legion Post 209, life member of the VFW 12149, EAA Chapter 489 and life member of the Effingham Historical Society and Museum.
David received his baccalaureate and teaching certificate from the State University of New York at Geneseo. After retiring he taught criminal Justice forensics half time at the Monroe County Board of Cooperative Education. He also owned and ran a mobile Part 41 drug and alcohol startup company for 5 years while he served as a stay home father.
In addition to volunteer flying David enjoys all things outdoors, pioneer camping, hiking, wood craft, boating, hunting and is an avid DIYer.
